Quality

For Solid timber it is important to distinguish between end uses where Strength is the critical factor, and the timber must perform according to specific design calculations, and Appearance end uses where the visual characteristics of wood are most important.

For each Wood based panel or Engineered wood product there will be a set of manufacturing parameters, which will determine the suitability of that product for particular end uses. The quality of manufacture will always be a critical point and it is important to determine the level of assurance necessary. For some uses this may be as simple as buying a known grade from a trusted supplier, or for other purposes through specifying the use of national and international standards. The stipulation of full third party quality assurance will make sure all manufacturing claims are independently verified.
