4th March 2019

On Thursday 21st September, over 35 members attended the EATTA AGM and a carvery dinner at Madingley Hall, Cambridge.

EATTA Chairman, Chris James, kick started the meeting by celebrating another great year for the association. Membership rose to record levels, the 2018 Annual Dinner was hailed a success and there was a satisfactory addition to the association’s reserves.

The meeting began with a timber market and wider industry discussion. A large issue for members was CE Marking & EN14801 post-Brexit.

David Hopkins, Managing Director of the Timber Trade Federation, updated members on the TTF’s continued political and commercial work on Brexit. David also introduced the new TTF Academy & Training ISM Scheme and
upcoming timber project workshops. These workshops will cover flooring, cladding, engineered timber products & merchants.

The EATTA “Who Teaches The Teachers” Project 2019 allows university lecturers to visit Nordic timber production. This year it is being organised and sponsored by Vida Timber. In 2020, lecturers are visiting East Norway and Western Sweden.

EATTA agreed on Dementia and Alzheimer’s as their 2019 chosen charity and will keep subscriptions at £170pa.
