ETTF issues Summer 2018 Newsletter
The European Timber Trade Federation (ETTF) has released its Summer 2018 Newsletter.
This includes an upbeat outlook for most of the EU timber trade from ETTF member federations, plus news of a just-launched timber construction conference in Denmark, the European oak conference, the positive impact of tourist developments on the Greek timber sector and a call from the yacht sector for Europe to work with the Myanmar teak industry on its efforts to assure sustainability and legality.
Also reported are plans for the International Softwood Conference in Riga, a due diligence policy update from the AEIM and the change of management at Le Commerce du Bois on the retirement of Eric Boilley as Director and succession of Arnaud Hétroit to the post.
Viewpoint articles are from Russia, the UK and the ATIBT.
The Newsletter also features an interview with TTF President Charles Hopping about the future of UK Timber Industry after Brexit. “The UK Timber Trade is deeply integrated with the sector across the rest of the EU, and that won’t change after Brexit,” says Charles. “We will make every effort to keep common rules and close relationships with our EU colleagues and neighbours.”
“Whatever will be the final shape of Brexit, we’ll make every effort to keep common rules and close relationships with our EU colleagues and neighbours.”
