Jake’s Tree House, designed as a memorial to four-year-old Jake Smith who died in 2016, is a children’s play area comprising walkways, a treehouse, pond and community planting space, created by designers Playscheme.  The tree house reflects Jake’s personality with quirky angled windows; local children also had input to the design.

Funded with the help of Strensall Community, the Robert Wilkinson Primary Academy and Jake’s family, the bespoke tree house and surrounding space needed to be safe for sustained use by children in all weathers.  Playscheme chose Marley’s CitiDeck anti-slip decking for the project, which features a less abrasive aggregate that still exceeds the HSE’s requirements for a non-slip surface.  CitiDeck’s safety under foot is much in need where  the children move from wet grass, up the stairs and into and around the tree house.

CitiDeck’s smooth surface is easier to clean and maintain and the decking is treated to achieve a 30-year service life. CitiDeck is created from sustainably-sourced FSC® and PEFC™-certified timber under Marley’s commitment to the Timber Trade Federation’s Responsible Purchasing Policy.
