Bespoke joinery Westbury Garden Rooms recently renovated an orangery at the rear of a London house, including producing a four-leaf folding door set, four weighted box sash windows, fascia mouldings and a large lantern roof, allowing light to stream into the space. Adding a modern twist to their traditional craft skills, Westbury Garden Rooms selected Accoya® modified wood for the project. Accoya’s performance rivals hardwoods such as Oak, having Class 1 durability.
The stability and moisture-resistance of Accoya mean minimal swelling and shrinkage, allowing the windows to open effortlessly all year round. Accoya window frames are CO2 negative over their full life cycle; the modified wood is guaranteed for 50 years above ground and 25 years in ground or freshwater contact. It is also non-toxic.
