TTF exhibiting at Timber Expo 2018 – Highlights
From 9 to 11 October 2018, the TTF Team were at NEC Birmingham for Timber Expo 2018.
The three-day event gave us the opportunity to present our latest publications and studies, promote TTF members’ work and enlarge our network!
TTF Managing Director, David Hopkins, also explained the Timber Training and Education Plan developed by the Federation in the past few months including:
- New TTF Training Academy;
- Sustainable timber procurement CPD produced in conjunction with Wood Campus;
- Level 3 Award in Timber Merchanting realised in collaboration with Occupational Awards Ltd (OAL);
- Partnership with TFT Woodexperts resulted in TTF Level 2 Award in Understanding Timber & Wood Products and Level 4 Awards in Wood Science.
The presentation was followed by an award ceremony that honoured 9 students from TTF member companies with a Level 4 diploma in Wood Science, achieved through studying with TFT Woodexperts.
The day after, on Wednesday 10th October, the Belarusian Forest Company (BFC) joined TTF Membership as an associate member. “We are always keen on expanding business opportunities for the members of our Federation,” said TTF MD, David Hopkins, “This agreement will surely enhance trade flow with Belarus, implementing the work that the TTF and the Trade and Economy Group of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus have developed in the past year.”
The TTF also hosted a table at the Structural Timber Awards 2018. Hundreds of construction professionals gathered at this prestigious award ceremony the National Conference Centre, Birmingham – to celebrate the best of timber in construction.
TTF Managing Director delivered the Product Innovation Award to Moduloft for their ‘Chippenham Bungalow’ project.

The final day of the show saw Nick Boulton, TTF Head of Technical & Trade and CEO of Trussed Rafter Association (TRA), delivering the seminar ’10 Ways to improve your use of trussed rafters’
Finally, TTF members and stakeholders had the chance to meet and network at the CTI Hub for the CTI Networking lunch.
