TTF Head of Sustainability joins PEFC Field Trip 2018
On 8th and 9th May 2018, PEFC UK held its Stakeholder Field Trip 2018 in Lockerbie, in Dumfries and Galloway, southwestern Scotland.
The Timber Trade Federation was represented by its Head of Sustainability Xiao Ma who took part in the initiative along with around twenty UK Timber Industry Stakeholders.
The event – organised in partnership with TTF member companies James Jones & Sons and Scottish Woodlands – was intended to show what Sustainable Forest Management and Chain of Custody certification means in practice and the value it adds to forest products.
The itinerary included a visit to a certified forest in Lockerbie area and a visit to James Jones, PEFC-certified sawmill.
Participants had the chance to learn why certification matters and what steps their particular sector can take to demonstrate its support for producers who have invested in responsible forest management for many years.
Delegates were also invited to participate in an informal roundtable discussion on Forest and Chain of Custody Certification and the challenges, benefits and business opportunities certification presents.
