The Import Promotion Desk (IPD) is inviting interested importers to meet with nine Indonesian suppliers of plywood, laminated boards and blockboard from lightweight timber species such as albasia and jabon. Profiles of the Indonesian suppliers can be found in the event brochure as well as on the event website (accessible after registration).

IPD has selected the nine Indonesian suppliers based on company visits and prepared them for the European market as well as for virtual b2b. IPD experts will ensure smooth communication before, during and after the event.

Albasia and jabon mainly come from from smallholder agro-forestry systems; they are an important source of income for the rural population on Java, Borneo and Sumatra. IPD had the main products tested by IPH in Dresden, see IPD’s lightwood flyer fore details.

The event will be kicked-off with a virtual roundtable on 16 March via Zoom. Indonesian producers, importers, European companies doing further processing and industrial end-users (such as caravan industry) will jointly define requirements for specific applications and develop ideas for new product usages.

Focus will be given to applications in which weight plays a role, such as interior fittings in caravans and yachts, moveable furniture, stand construction, etc.

IPD is a non-profit project supported by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
