TTF Members triumph at this year’s historic TTJ Awards

PRESS RELEASE · BY TIMBER TRADE FEDERATION· 2 OCTOBER 2020

Shining a spotlight on the excellence within the timber industry, the prestigious TTJ Awards named TTF member Howarth Timber Group as TTJ Timber Trader of the Year 2020.

The Timber Trade Federation was pleased to sponsor this year’s ‘Timber Trader of the Year’ prize at the first virtual TTJ Awards 2020, the first time in its 24-year history.

The prize represents the crown of the TTJ Awards ceremony and recognises the company best optimising all aspects of business to achieve growth and strong financial performance across the UK Timber Trade Industry.

The awards showcased the timber industry as a major, modern and forward-looking industry by featuring a Covid-19 industry response film, Wood CO₂ts less campaign supported by Wood for Good, Timber Trade Federation (TTF), Swedish Wood, Confor, and Structural Timber Association (STA) and a short film on the American Hardwood Export Council’s Connected project, where nine designers created tables and seating to suit their new ways of living and working from home.

TTF Members won most of the awards this year with Howarth Timber & Building Supplies winning Timber Merchant of the Year and Howarth Timber Engineered Solutions scooping the Structural Timber Systems Supplier of the Year.

As well as Glennon Brothers taking home Softwood Trader of the Year, James Latham Hardwood Trader of the Year and Falcon Panel Products winning Panels Trader of the Year.

The Awards recognised Neil Donaldson’s wonderful service to the timber industry as he was awarded the TTJ Lifetime Achievement Award.

David Hopkins, CEO of the Timber Trade Federation said:

“A special thank you to the TTJ for bringing the industry together for a successful virtual event. It has been an incredibly challenging year for everyone in the industry, and to bring us together makes this year’s awards even more special.

Every year the TTJ Awards show TTF members are setting the bar for the rest of the industry to follow and this year is no different, with Howarth Timber Group winning TTJ Timber Trader of the Year, Glennon Brothers, James Latham and Falcon Panel Products also winning awards.

Congratulations to Neil Donaldson who was awarded with the TTJ’s Lifetime Achievement prize.

We look forward to sponsoring next year’s awards and seeing everyone in person for a non-virtual drink.”

If you missed the Awards, the event will be available on-demand for the next 30 days – allowing people to see the Main Stage presentations, visit the Sponsor Zone, leave comments in the Networking Lounge and donate to the TTBS.
