TTF survey helping inform international response to Coronavirus

TTF survey helping inform international response to Coronavirus

ARTICLE  · 13 Mar 2020

As the global response to Covid-19 continues to ramp up, the Timber Trade Federation is working with our partners across Europe to map the effect to the timber supply chain.

We are calling on all our members to complete our Covid-19 survey as this will help inform our lobbying efforts with Government, and ensure you get the support you need during this difficult time.

Respondents to the TTF survey have so far reported a noticeable impact on trading with China, especially in the plywood and flooring product sectors as well as difficulties in obtaining container spaces.

Production in parts of China are yet to return to normal, with a one month delay expected. No companies are reporting any concerns about the downstream effects of Covid-19 on product quality or certification.

The French trade association,  Le Commerce du Bois (LCB), has found no significant impacts to their supply chain at this stage, despite the rapidly escalating situation across the English Channel.

In the meantime, the TTF team have also created a hub on the website for Covid-19 advice, information and links specifically for our members. We will update this page regularly.

We also advise our members to check if they qualify for business relief support as recently announced by the Government, with SME’s able to reclaim Statutory Sick Pay, among other measures.
