University students challenged to build with sustainable timber
ARTICLE · 17 Feb 2020
More than 60 students from 30 universities came together today in Cardiff as the three day TRADA University Challenge kicks off.
The competition brings together final year undergraduate students of architecture, architectural technology, engineering, quantity surveying and landscape architecture related courses together with industry experts.
Introducing students into the world of sustainable timber and getting them familiar with wood as a building material is essential for growing the market in the UK long term, particularly as construction is set to face significant skills shortages.
Tabitha Binding, TTF Regional Engagement Managers and TRADA University Engagement Manager, is at the event on behalf of both organisations rallying students to the timber cause.
Sponsoring the event are TTF members Steico, Arnold Laver, and Stora Enso, which support from the Western Timber Trade Association.
